Saija Lehtonen Design jewellery come straight from the pure nature of Finland. Jewellery are manufactured from the elk hoofs. Elks live wild in the nature in Finland and are hunted to regulate the elk population. Hunters use meat, hide and antlers. Hoofs are usually gone waste, but Saija Lehtonen has innovated how to use this beatiful and good material in her work. Elk’s hoof is a very attractive material, shimmering like velvet, light and yet strong. All phases are handwork – every piece of jewellery is unique.
With this jewellery I honour the relation to the elk and cherish our ancient but living bond with the North and its mystical nature. This jewellery carries the spirit of ancient wilderness within.
The earrings are delivered in a stylish box with a small product label, and each is unique. There are variations in color tones and also minor variations in the shape.
Jewelry is also well suited to sensitive skin users because there are no surface treatment agents, color or varnish. In use, jewelery remains shiny with skin oil.
